Will there still be tests when one has attained Buddhahood? And what are the conditions to become a Buddha? Supreme Master Qing Hai talks brilliantly about Buddhahood to break our illusions. She says that: don't think there will be no test after becoming a Buddha. There is tests everyday! The more the disciples you have , the more tests there will be. But just because of the tests from them, you know what level you are. When occasionally some mundane thoughts pop , we’ll be amazed how we could do what we are doing. Because from the standpoint of ordinary people, it is incredible to do these, but for those who have already become a Buddha, itfeels very natural. I feel very simple to do this, but I see that half of the people would not do it. Thus I know I am not ordinary . So I thank you, I become a Buddha and know my own capabilities because of you.
In order to save sentient beings, sometimes the bodhisattva needs to transform himself into their relatives or friends, which means that he will do what they ask so as to guide them gradually. You can’t say that this does not suit my status or that is too dirty, too hard or too low. You should do every thing. The Buddha is the highest, and also the lowest. To become a Buddha, we should really be free from any ego or concept of fame. It’s very contradictory that we should become a Buddha while not thinking of ourselves as a Buddha, but it is true. You should not smell like a Buddha at all. We should be like a very ordinary person, yet our Buddha's poweris never created or destroyed, but we should do all the ordinary stuff. So to become a Buddha is not that simple!
