  • Summary

If we are afraid of something, it’s because we still have our reputation to consider, and we still have desire for fame and gain in this world, and we think our reputation in this world is very important, that’s why we are afraid. We should learn to have courage and be magnanimous, and not be afraid of anything. If we don’t care about reputation in this world, and we’re fearless and egoless, then we’re free and liberated. Whether we practice the Quan Yin Method or not, we’re already half liberated,  our heart which was bound by fame and gain is liberated. The reputation in this world is transient. We should control our ear, and become a fearless person.

Very few people can use their merits carefully, because Maya would use all kinds of tricks to tempt us to make mistakes in our position. That’s why Master says merits and karma are glued together, so do not be attached to merits. We do things because it needs to be done, not because we want the merits, otherwise we’ll come back here again to claim them. At that time it’s very likely we’ll make new mistakes and karma again, and that’s how Maya binds us here in this world life after life. When we give charity, we should do it without thinking, so we’ll not get the merits. If we want  liberation from life and death, we shouldn’t be attached to this world, and we should forget about merits or karma.
